The objective of this project was to develop a short animation detailing basic concepts in respiratory physiology to a lay audience.

Moodboard.

The first step was to create a moodboard of images to provide inspiration and reference throughout production. For this project's topic, I was very interested in finding visual metaphor within branches of fruit. For materials, I drew reference from various candies. My lighting was based on the sunset.

Storyboard.

After developing a plan for visual aesthetics, a script and storyboard were drafted and reviewed by faculty to assure that storytelling was strong and clear.

Models and scenes were developed in Cinema4D. For hemoglobin, base models were created using ePMV and PDB material.

Models.

Following model development and refinement, scenes were animated. A wireframe draft of the animation was created for faculty to review movement and timing.

Lighting and materials were built in Redshift by referencing the moodboard. The animation was composited in Adobe After Effects and soundscape designed in GarageBand. After post-production editing in After Effects, the final animation was rendered.
