Noah Smith received his Master of Science in

Medical Illustration from Augusta University, where he enjoyed polishing his skills in visual storytelling as it relates to healthcare. His passion for teaching and background in education drives his goals as a medical illustrator. Smith strives to help audiences by creating compelling visuals that build health literacy and improve outcomes.

During his time at the Medical Illustration Graduate Program, Smith took great interest in both developing patient education materials as well as directly observing and illustrating surgical procedures in the OR. Smith also participated in the Student Medical Illustration Service, working with clients from Augusta University Medical Center to create compelling visuals for presentation and publication. Smith feels that communication is crucial to healthcare, and strives in his work to create visuals that make complex concepts easily understood.

Previous to his graduate education, Smith worked in the University of Georgia’s Anatomy and Physiology II cadaver lab, leading and teaching undergraduate lab courses and aiding in cadaveric dissection. He also spent many summers working as a nature science camp counselor, sparking a passion for learning and science in elementary-age students. Smith graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Scientific Illustration.

In his free time, Smith volunteers for the worldwide competition Odyssey of the Mind, specifically, helping K-2 students develop creative problem-solving and teamwork skills.

He looks forward to continuing to build his medical illustration skillset and using his art to help others learn throughout his professional career.
